A 1944 British Member of the Order of the British Empire Medal Group - This lot comprises a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire medal, a corresponding miniature, a presentation case, and an admission card dated 1944. The white metal medal is of cross patonce form and is topped with a Tudor crown. The central medallion features the profile busts of King George V and Queen Mary, within a circular band bearing the legend FOR GOD AND THE EMPIRE. The medal is mounted on a rose-pink silk bow with pearl-grey edges. The miniature medal is a scaled-down version of the same design on a matching ribbon. The black textured leatherette case has a gold-stamped legend reading M. B. E. within a gilt decorative border. Also included is a printed cream admission card for the NATIONAL RALLY OF WOMEN FROM THE CIVIL DEFENCE AND KINDRED SERVICES at County Hall, Westminster Bridge, S.E.1, on Wednesday, 6th December, 1944. The card is handwritten NO. 7 MISS SCARLETT and REGION 6, and features a diagonal black ink stamp reading FOR PRESENTATION. No maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the metal components.
