UK 1951 and 1980 Commemorative Crowns, Festival of Britain and Queen Mother - Two UK commemorative crowns comprising a 1951 Festival of Britain five-shilling crown and a 1980 twenty-five pence crown celebrating the 80th birthday of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. The 1951 coin features a reverse design of St. George slaying a dragon with the date 1951 struck in the exergue. It is presented in a maroon box of issue, which features a gold-printed crown crest and the transcription FESTIVAL OF BRITAIN / ROYAL MINT / 1951 on the interior lid. The 1980 crown features a reverse profile portrait of the Queen Mother within a stylised border of radiating lions and bows, with the struck legends QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER and AUGUST 4TH 1980. This piece is housed in a clear plastic protective case containing a blue card insert printed with the transcription HER MAJESTY / QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER / 80TH BIRTHDAY AUG 4TH 1980. No hallmark or fineness stamps are visible on either coin.
