Each note features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II within a decorative oval frame to the right and a vignette of Britannia seated to the left. The obverse carries the printed legend BANK OF ENGLAND, I PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND THE SUM OF TEN SHILLINGS, LONDON, and FOR THE GOV.R AND COMP.A OF THE BANK OF ENGLAND. The notes bear the printed signature J. S. FFORDE, CHIEF CASHIER. The serial numbers are B85N 527944 and B85N 527945, forming a consecutive pair. The reverse depicts a seated Britannia within a central roundel, framed by intricate lathe-work patterns and geometric designs.
