A Pair of Chinese Silk Embroideries, depicting avian motifs - A pair of horizontal Chinese silk embroideries, worked in polychrome silk threads on a cream silk ground. The first embroidery depicts a phoenix perched on a flowering branch, surrounded by various birds including a crane and mandarin ducks, set beneath a red sun. It bears a four-character inscription to the upper left reading BAINIAO CHAOFENG. The second embroidery features two peacocks on a blossoming branch, with one peacock displaying its tail feathers. This piece is inscribed to the left with four characters reading KONGQUE KAIPING and bears a square red seal mark. Both pieces are housed in matching brushed metal frames under glass. No maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the items.
