An Occasional Table with a Carved Rope-Twist Border - An occasional table, featuring a circular tabletop with a hand-carved rope-twist decorative border. The tabletop is finished in a high-gloss lacquer, displaying a figured grain. The carved border is finished in a dark stain. The table is supported by a tripod base consisting of three scroll-form legs, each featuring dark-stained outer edges and lighter flat interior faces. These legs support a central circular under-tier shelf and terminate in integral feet. The item is of hardwood construction. No maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item. The unfinished underside of the tabletop exhibits a mark resembling a human handprint, which appears to be a residue or an area of missed finish.
