Bidspirit auction | A Large Chinese Pedestal Table

A Large Chinese Pedestal Table with Celadon and Underglaze Blue Decoration - A large porcelain pedestal table featuring a circular top and a cylindrical base. The flat top is designed with a central circular medallion depicting a stylised chrysanthemum and scrolling foliate motifs in underglaze blue. This is bordered by a wide band of pale celadon-green glaze, which is moulded in low relief with a continuous pattern of roses and leaves. The outer edge is finished with a diaper-pattern border and a scalloped rim decorated with blue dots. The pedestal base tapers slightly and features a continuous hand-painted landscape in underglaze blue, depicting mountains, water, traditional dwellings, a bridge, and a fisherman in a boat. The lower portion of the base is decorated with a band of stylised ruyi-head clouds and cresting waves. A four-character mark in underglaze blue is painted on the outer rim of the table top; the characters are not legible as a specific name or reign. No other maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible.
