UK 1942 George VI Scottish Reverse One Shilling Coin - A UK 1942 one shilling coin, struck in .500 fine silver. The obverse features the left-facing uncrowned portrait of King George VI, with the struck legend GEORGIVS VI D : G : BR : OMN : REX. The artist's initials HP for Humphrey Paget are visible below the truncation of the neck. The reverse features the Scottish crest, depicting a crowned lion sejant affronte seated upon a crown, holding a sword and scepter. This central device is flanked by two saltires within cinquefoils. The reverse legend reads FID : DEF IND : IMP with the denomination ONE SHILLING at the base and the date 1942 split by the design. The coin features a reeded edge. No further maker's marks or labels are present.
