A Late 19th Century Tiled Fireplace Insert With Poppies - A late 19th or early 20th Century fireplace insert, featuring a rectangular metal frame and a central hood. The outer frame is decorated in relief with a repeating Art Nouveau pattern of stylised circular motifs and whip-lash lines. The central canopy hood displays a prominent embossed shield and foliate scroll design. The insert is accompanied by two matching vertical runs of five glazed ceramic tiles. The tiles are decorated with a continuous vertical transfer print depicting pink poppies, white daisies, and yellow wheat stalks, featuring small songbirds perched among the floral stems. The tiles are finished with a green geometric border. One run of five tiles is currently detached from the metal frame. No maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the metalwork or the faces of the tiles.
