Australia 1916 George V Melbourne Mint Silver Florin - An Australian silver florin, dated 1916. The obverse features the crowned, left-facing bust of King George V, surrounded by the Latin legend GEORGIVS V D. G. BRITT: OMN: REX F. D. IND: IMP:. The reverse displays the 1908 Australian Coat of Arms, featuring a kangaroo and an emu supporting a shield with the Cross of St. George and five six-pointed stars, topped with a seven-pointed star crest. A ribbon below the shield is inscribed ADVANCE AUSTRALIA. The denomination is struck around the upper periphery as ONE FLORIN - TWO SHILLINGS. A small M mint mark is struck below the date on the reverse, indicating production at the Melbourne Mint. The coin features a reeded edge.
