Bidspirit auction | A Framed Impressionist Landscape Oil

A Framed Impressionist Landscape Oil Painting Depicting A Woodland Cottage - An impressionist landscape painting executed in oil on canvas, which has been laid to a wooden board support. The composition features a rustic cottage or cabin situated within a wooded area, rendered with a palette of pale blues, greys, and yellows. The artist has employed rapid, gestural brushwork with significant impasto texture, particularly evident in the thick applications of yellow-green paint representing the foliage and the architectural highlights of the building. The sky is depicted with broad, blended strokes of pale blue and white. The work is housed in a decorative gilt composite frame featuring ornate corner scrolls, a linen-covered inner slip, and a beaded gilt liner. The verso reveals a wooden backing board secured with metal staples and a cord hanging wire. No maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
