Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Stanley and
A Pair of Stanley and Unmarked Steel Corner Braces - This lot comprises two metal corner braces, each featuring a cranked frame designed for drilling in confined spaces. The tool positioned at the lower right is constructed with a metal shank bearing the impressed wordmark STANLEY. The second tool lacks visible maker's marks or inscriptions. Both braces are fitted with wooden handles of a bulbous, barrel form and rounded wooden head grips at the base of the frame. The frames exhibit a dual-pivot design with integrated gearing and ratcheting mechanisms to facilitate bit rotation at an angle to the sweep of the handle. Each tool is equipped with a knurled metal chuck for securing square-shank bits. The steel components show an aged patina throughout. No other maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the items.
