Bidspirit auction | A Staffordshire Earthenware Figural Jug

A Staffordshire Earthenware Figural Jug Modelled as a Begging Spaniel - A glazed earthenware figural jug, modelled in the form of a seated Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in a begging posture. The dog is decorated with iron-red patches to the ears and body, featuring a vertical row of four small red hearts to the chest and red markings to the paws. The rim and spout are formed by the dog's head, which is encircled by a garland of green leaves and purple fruit. The dog wears a collar with a gilded pendant. A C-scroll handle is attached to the rear of the vessel. The base features a printed red rectangular backstamp containing the letters CON and smaller letters WO, though the full name is not legible. Faint, parallel incised lines are present on the unglazed foot rim. No other maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
