A First World War Memorial Plaque and Scroll to Herbert Sharp - A First World War Memorial Plaque and associated ephemera. The circular bronze plaque is cast with the standing figure of Britannia holding a trident and a laurel wreath, accompanied by a lion in the foreground and dolphins in the field. The border is cast with the legend HE DIED FOR FREEDOM AND HONOUR. A rectangular tablet features the cast name HERBERT SHARP. The artist's initials E.C.P. are cast at the lower right. The lot includes a paper memorial scroll with a red royal crest and the heading BUCKINGHAM PALACE, featuring a printed message beginning I JOIN WITH MY GRATEFUL PEOPLE and a facsimile signature of King George V reading GEORGE R.I. Also present is the original dark card protective folder and a heavily damaged paper mailing envelope addressed to MR. F. SHARP, WALPOLE ST. ANDREWS NR. WISBECH, with return addresses for C. S. O. F.
