Folio. - This mid-eighteenth-century large-format folio volume contains The Book of Common Prayer and the administration of the Sacraments, and other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church of England, together with the Psalter or Psalms of David. The work was printed in Oxford by Thomas Baskett, Printer to the University, in 1754. The volume includes the liturgical text bound with portions of the Holy Bible, as evidenced by internal leaves for the Second Book of Kings and the First Book of Chronicles. The book is bound in full brown calf leather featuring a decorative paneled design on the boards and a spine with seven raised bands. The front flyleaf contains various handwritten marginalia in both ink and pencil. This lectern-sized format was typically intended for ecclesiastical use.
