Crown Devon Rouge Royale Ceramic Pitcher with Gilt Vine Decoration - This ceramic pitcher is a product of S. Fielding and Company Ltd. under the trade name Crown Devon, manufactured in Stoke-on-Trent, England. The vessel features a classic baluster form with a wide, flared spout and a large scrolled handle, set upon a stepped circular foot. The exterior is finished in a deep red Rouge Royale luster glaze, decorated with a pattern of trailing gilt vine leaves and scrolling tendrils interspersed with small clusters of orange enameled berries. The interior of the pitcher is finished with an iridescent mother-of-pearl luster glaze. The foot of the pitcher is finished in a dark glaze with a gilt-lined rim. The underside bears the printed manufacturer mark in gold, consisting of a crown icon above the text Crown Devon Fielding's Made in England. Also present on the base is a hand-painted pattern number 5293 and an incised mold number 436.
