A Pair of Victorian Staffordshire White Glazed Spaniel Dogs - A pair of Victorian Staffordshire white-glazed earthenware spaniel figurines, traditionally referred to as Wally dogs. This matched set consists of two mirror-imaged, seated King Charles Spaniels with molded curly fur decoration. The figures feature hand-painted facial details, including black eyes with yellow-brown pupils and peach-toned muzzles with black stippling. Each dog is adorned with a molded collar, a hanging padlock, and a draped chain, all showing traces of original gold gilding. The figurines are designed with flat backs and a single circular vent hole, typical of 19th-century mantel ornaments. The underside of the left-hand figure bears a blue painted number 2, signifying its size class within the traditional Staffordshire production scale.
