Late 19th Century Neoclassical Style Ebonized and Parcel-Gilt Pier Mirror - A tall, narrow pier mirror in the Neoclassical style, dating from the late 19th century. The frame is constructed of wood with an ebonized finish and parcel-gilt decorative elements. The top of the mirror features a shaped pediment with a central carved oval medallion crest set within a scrolling foliate surround. The vertical stiles are embellished with incised gilded lines and carved acanthus leaf motifs at the upper and lower corners. The rectangular mirror plate is set within the frame and displays a distressed appearance due to age. The frame construction involves the use of wood, gesso, and gold leaf applications.
