JEAN ADRIEN SEIDE (HAITI, B. 1956) Oil on canvas, signed lower left, measures 60 x 40 inches and 68 x 48 inches with frame .Self-taught Haitian artist Jean-Adrien Seide was born in Cayes on November 18, 1956. He moved to Venezuela when his father passed away. He paints highly structured landscapes, with fields spreading out toward a distant horizonJean Adrien Seide's themes derive from the River of Artibonite, the mountains of Jacmel, and the cascades from the famous Saut Mathurin or Peligre in Haiti. At first glance, his paintings look representational, but a more detailed examination leads to a fascination, and the fantastic element predominates over the immediate reality. His art has been shown in several countries, including the United States, Venezuela, Spain, Salvador, Canada, Haiti, and France. Seide is well-known among art collectors all around the globe, who like his simple landscapes. The Musée de Vence in France and the Haitian Heritage Museum in Miami have his works in permanent collections. "Horizontal lines evoking fields cross the vertical lines of trees to create a coherent landscape." (Peintres Haitiens by Gérald Alexis). Please scroll down to browse his beautiful art.
