A Late 19th Century French Gilt Metal and Pink Porcelain Mantel Clock by Richard and Co - A French Rococo Revival style mantel clock featuring a mechanical eight day spring driven movement by Richard and Co (Richard et Cie) of Paris and London, retailed by William Lawson, 39 Lord Street, Liverpool. The gilt metal case is inset with Sevres style pink porcelain plaques and columns. The circular porcelain dial has a pink outer ring with gilded Roman numeral cartouches and a white centre decorated with hand painted polychrome floral swags, featuring black steel spade style hands and two winding arbors. The case is surmounted by a seated gilt figure of a woman in classical robes. The main body is flanked by two pink porcelain columns with floral decoration. A rectangular porcelain plaque at the front base depicts a pastoral scene with a man playing a stringed instrument beside a seated woman. The case rests on four ornate scroll feet, the front two terminating in lion paw feet. The movement backplate is stamped R and C, PARIS and LONDON, BEST WARRANTED, and numbered 1213. A circular rear cover is present with a perforated star design. A service sticker on the base from Freemans Antiques is dated 27.6.2013. Dimensions: Not provided.
