E.H. Shepard, A Pair of Framed Winnie-the-Pooh Prints - A pair of matching framed and glazed monochrome prints on toned paper, after the original graphite sketches by E.H. Shepard for A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh series. The first print, in portrait orientation, illustrates the seminal frontispiece for the series, depicting Christopher Robin pulling Winnie-the-Pooh down the stairs. It includes the printed inscriptions Bump / Bump / Bump, First sketch, 1. Ch I Winnie - the - pooh, and W.T.P. Frontispiece. Signed lower right within the plate E.H. Shepard. The second print, in landscape orientation, illustrates a scene from The House at Pooh Corner with Pooh and Piglet perched upon a gate. It includes the printed inscriptions House at Pooh Corner, Ch I / p. 6, and p 6. Initialled lower right within the plate EHS. Both pieces are housed in matching dark wood frames with a gilt inner slip and double-mount matting. Each frame measures approximately 48cm x 38cm.
