A Collection of UK Silver Shillings and Sixpences, 1750-1824 - A collection of UK silver coinage comprising sixpences and shillings spanning the mid-18th to early 19th centuries. The group includes issues from the reigns of George II, George III, and George IV. The earliest pieces are George II old-head issues dated 1750, 1757, and 1758, featuring a cruciform arrangement of four crowned shields on the reverse with the abbreviated Latin legend MBFET HREX FDB ETLDSRIAT ETE. George III coinage includes the 1787 issue in both With Hearts and Without Hearts Hanoverian shield varieties. New Coinage specimens from 1816, 1817, 1818, 1819, and 1820 feature the laureate bull head or small head obverse with the Garter reverse, displaying a crowned shield within the Order of the Garter bearing the motto HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE. The collection also contains George IV issues dated 1821 and 1824. The coins are struck in silver and exhibit a range of toning from light grey to dark iridescent patina.
