A Late Victorian English Sterling Silver Open Face Fusee Pocket Watch Birmingham 1887, SR - A late Victorian sterling silver open-face pocket watch featuring an English lever fusee movement. The watch is designed with a white enamel dial displaying bold black Roman numeral hour markers, a peripheral minute track, and a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The dial bears the inscription IMPROVED PATENT across the centre. It is equipped with gold-tone spade hands and a blued-steel sub-seconds hand. The sterling silver case features a milled coin-edged band. The interior of the case back is stamped with Birmingham Assay Office hallmarks including the anchor, the lion passant for sterling silver, and the Gothic lowercase date letter n for 1887. The maker's mark J.T is present, likely for the case maker John Taylor. The manual-wind gilt fusee movement is protected by a removable brass dust cover and features a decoratively engraved balance cock with scrollwork and a SLOW/FAST regulator scale. The movement plate is engraved with the serial number 1757. Case size: 53mm.
