Late 19th Century? Porcelain Portrait Cabinet Plates - A trio of porcelain cabinet plates of shallow circular form. Each vessel features a hand-painted bust-length profile portrait of a woman in Renaissance revival style attire, executed in polychrome enamels against a solid matte black ground. The portraits depict varied 16th-century style headwear including a blue silk? wrap over a gold brocade? cap, a large structured red and white ruffled headdress, and a jewelled headband with a high lace collar. The underside of each plate is finished in plain white glaze and bears no visible printed marks, signatures or labels. Diameter: 11.5 cm.
