Staffan Lessing? Iridescent Glass Paperweight, 2006 - A Staffan Lessing? studio glass paperweight of spherical form. The piece is constructed from blown glass featuring a mottled, iridescent cobalt and turquoise blue ground with a shimmering lustre. The exterior is decorated with abstract, dark brown trailing lines that wrap around the circumference, creating an irregular web-like pattern interspersed with five inset white and clear millefiori flower canes. Each cane features a white flower head within a clear surround, set flush with the glass surface. The mottled ground creates a complex visual texture beneath the shimmering surface. The base features a ground and polished pontil mark and is hand-inscribed in black characters reading Staffan Lessing 2006.
