Mid-20th Century Lingard Websters Glazed Earthenware Old Woman in a Shoe Novelty Teapot - A Lingard Websters novelty teapot of moulded earthenware form. The vessel is designed to depict the nursery rhyme character the Old Woman who lived in a shoe, with the main body modelled as a thatched cottage in the shape of a boot. The teapot is finished in a vibrant lime green glaze with silver-coloured lustre highlights applied to the architectural details, the figure's spectacles, and the trim of her bonnet. The woman's head and shoulders form a detachable lid, while a chimney serves as the spout and the rear wall forms the handle. The base bears an impressed mark reading ENGLAND, a hand-painted black character b, and a circular black printed backstamp with the text LINGARD WEBSTERS TUNSTALL and MADE IN ENGLAND.
