A collection of paper items of a doctor and a nurse at the "Hadassa" union in Jerusalem - 1920s to 1950s
About 100 letters, personal cards, photographs, and paper items that belonged to the couple Yehiel and Haya Greenfeld, a doctor and a nurse at the "Hadassa" organization and clinics in Jerusalem. Jerusalem and other places in the Land of Israel and Europe, the 1920s to the 1950s. Polish, German, Hebrew and other languages.
Among other things, the collection includes: various certificates relating to Greenfeld's duties as a doctor at Hadassah, three student certificates from the period of Yehiel Greenfeld's studies at the University of Graz (Karl Franzens-Universität), from the years 1919-1921 (different from each other). In each of them, his photo and personal details appear, about 45 letters, most of them handwritten, sent to and from the Greenfelds, at different times: four letters from doctors and administrators at the Hadassah hospital, written on official letterhead, sent between 1925- 1935; A letter of thanks, typewritten on official letterhead of the "District Health Office, Jerusalem", for Chaya Greenfeld's work as head nurse in the "Etzion" immigrant camp, in 1950; A draft telegram dated July 7, 1949, sent by Greenfeld to David Ben-Gurion "on behalf of the Tobinsky-Greenfeld families", as a token of appreciation for the "purification of the name and honor of Commander Meir Tobiansky" (Tobiansky was executed on charges of treason in the War of Independence and acquitted a few months later, under David's influence Ben Gurion); Dozens of letters from family members and acquaintances (mostly in Polish and German, from the 1920s and 1930s), sent from various cities in Europe: Lublin, Zeˈlɔna ˈɡura, Radom, Warsaw and other places; and other letters.
Also appears - an early and rare armband for volunteers in "Hadassa". Blue fabric with a red Star of David embroidered on it and the inscription "יעל [יד עזרה לחולה] הדסה". Hadassah".
