Strengthening the Faith in the Resurrection - Handwritten Torah Writings in the Holy Hand of Maran the Ben Ish Chai


Handwritten leaf by Rabbi Yosef Haim of Baghdad, author of "Ben Ish Chai", words of reinforcement and morale regarding the resurrection.


Maran reveals that the custom of Israel with the death Teache on the great resurrection. for example, the fact that the deceased is buried in the shrine indicates his future is resurrected, as is the custom of laying the tomb with his head in the east and his legs in the west, so that the deceased will face  and see the Land of Israel and the Temple, and for reconstruction, will be ready to rise to the holy place for the future. Maran also writes that the custom of tearing herbs out of the cemetery also indicates this matter of the resurrection, and concludes: "G-d will help us and save and help us Amen ken yehi razon.'


Rabbeinu Yosef Chaim of Baghdad, author of Ben Ish Chai [1833-1909], the greatest scholar of his city and country, disciple of Rabbeinu Abdallah Somekh. From his youth he was known for his genius and his righteousness. All the rabbis and Dayan of Baghdad surrendered to the origin of his lips, the undisputed leader of all of Babylonian Jewry. There his greatness was published all over the world. In the year 1866, when he traveled to the Land of Israel, an angel was revealed to him and revealed that his soul was rooted in the soul of Benayahu ben Jehoiada, and that is why he called the names of many of his writings: 'ben Ish Chai', 'Ben Ish Chayil', 'Rav pealim', 'Ben Yehoyada' etc.
