A Ghaznavid Blue-Glazed Ceramic Elephant Chess Piece, Possibly 11th–12th Century.
Modelled in a highly abstract form with twin raised nodules representing tusks or ears, this compact elephant chess piece is crafted in faience with a soft cobalt-blue glaze and traces of earthen encrustation.
