AN ISLAMIC SILVER SIGNET RING SET WITH AN ENGRAVED RED AGATE INTAGLIO - A signet style ring featuring an ornate openwork gallery and shank. The setting is constructed with a decorative multi-pronged gallery that transitions into shoulders featuring foliate and scrollwork openwork motifs. The ring is set with a large, oval red agate. The surface of the stone is flat and features deep intaglio engraving. The engraving consists of three horizontal registers of Arabic or Persian calligraphy, enclosed within a scalloped decorative border. The script is highly stylised and interspersed with small circular and floral motifs.
