A PERSIAN SILVER AND ENGRAVED BLUE AGATE SEAL RING. - A silver signet ring set with an intaglio-carved oval gemstone. The central stone is a translucent light blue-grey agate featuring a flat face deeply engraved with Nasta'liq calligraphy. The central script reads Jawad al-A'immah, an honorific title referring to the ninth Shia Imam, Muhammad al-Jawad. The calligraphy is framed by scrolling foliate motifs and stylised floral clusters composed of three and five dots. The gemstone is held within a silver bezel featuring a decorative scalloped edge. The silver setting is constructed with a split-shoulder, ”wasp-waist” design incorporating pierced openwork scrolls on the shanks.
