Bidspirit auction | A CHINESE ARCHAISTIC JADE PHALLIC

A CHINESE ARCHAISTIC JADE PHALLIC PENDANT WITH BEAST HEAD, POSSIBLY HAN DYNASTY OR LATER. - Carved from mottled green and brown jade, the pendant is modelled in the form of an erect phallus surmounted at the base by the head of a mythical beast with pointed ears, bulging eyes, and an open mouth pierced through for suspension. The combination of the phallic form with a beast’s head suggests a symbolic or ritualistic purpose, possibly linked to fertility or protective functions. L: Approximately 16.5cm
