The item features a hinged frame with a circular thumbpiece and two arms terminating in small oval-shaped grips. The thumbpiece is struck with a full set of hallmarks including the maker mark L L & S for Levi and Salaman, the anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, the lion passant indicating sterling silver, and the date letter b for the year 1901.
