The unit is constructed from weather-resistant glass reinforced plastic and features a hinged lid with a central locking mechanism. A metal key is included and is currently attached to the lock barrel. The interior lid retains a partially damaged instructional label from the South Western Electricity Board (SWEB). The label contains a notice to installers stating that the cupboard must be installed with the hinge on the left-hand side and, if positioned next to a gas cupboard, must be mounted to the left. The label also confirms the enclosure is designed for a single-phase supply and carries the reference number BT 194488. The body of the box contains pre-formed knockouts for cable entry, with one large circular hole already removed on the lower front face.
