A Late Victorian Set of Four Wrought Iron Gin Traps - A late Victorian set of four wrought iron gin traps, each featuring a pair of serrated metal jaws and a rectangular treadle pan. These historical leg-hold traps are constructed with heavy leaf springs and are complete with their attached iron chains, each terminating in a circular tethering ring. The metal surfaces show significant, uniform oxidation and heavy pitting consistent with rural use. Stamped marks are present on the treadle pans, but the characters are not legible as a name or date due to the extent of the corrosion. The items are accompanied by a white adhesive label from HCP Auctions South West reading Lot 146 and 4 X GIN TRAPS, with a circled date of 1893.
