Bidspirit auction | A Cast Stone Garden Ornament

A Cast Stone Garden Ornament of a Sleeping Cherub - A cast stone garden ornament depicting a sleeping cherub or putto, presented in a recumbent position within its own curled, feathered wings. The figure is modeled with a serene facial expression, closed eyes, and curly hair, featuring a rounded, infantile physique characteristic of the subject matter. The piece is constructed from reconstituted stone with a coarse, granular texture and visible air pits throughout the surface. It possesses a naturally weathered, buff-toned patina with areas of ingrained dirt and organic lichen staining, consistent with long-term outdoor display. The underside is flat and unfinished, showing the raw texture of the cast material. There are no visible maker's marks or signatures on the piece. Sleeping Cherub Length: 29 cm.
