Bidspirit auction | A Collection of Antique Hand-Forged
A Collection of Antique Hand-Forged Iron Square Shank Nails - A collection of antique hand-forged iron nails, likely salvaged from heavy timber framing or masonry. Each nail is constructed with a tapered, four-sided square shank and an irregular, flattened head, characteristic of traditional blacksmithing or early industrial production. The nails exhibit a uniform and heavy oxidised patina across all surfaces, showing the deep texture and pitting typical of historic architectural hardware. The shanks show slight irregularities and minor bends consistent with their removal from original structural timber. There are no visible manufacturer marks, foundry stamps, or signatures on the iron surfaces. A white adhesive label is present on the rim of the plastic bucket, but it appears to be a contemporary inventory or auction label and is not related to the manufacture of the items. Individual nail length: 12.5 - 15.2 cm.
