A Collection of Maritime Salvage Fishing Buoys - A collection of maritime salvage fishing buoys in an assortment of forms and materials including plastic, composite, and heavy-duty rubber. The group features a large spherical green plastic buoy with a central aperture containing a knotted length of heavy natural fibre rope. Also included are several conical and pear-shaped floats in varying shades of cream, yellow, and terracotta. One terracotta-coloured plastic buoy is embossed with a literal anchor symbol above the number 12. Another spherical buoy features a mottled grey stone-effect or concrete-like composite surface. Many of the buoys retain their original heavy gauge rope attachments, displaying knotted loops and spliced ends. Several pieces show evidence of a conical stem or handle integrated into the moulding. The surfaces vary from smooth plastic to heavily textured composite, with some examples displaying a distressed, weathered finish consistent with prolonged exposure to marine environments.
