Bidspirit auction | A Large Wrought Iron Architectural
A Large Wrought Iron Architectural Sign Bracket - A large wrought iron architectural bracket, likely originally intended for supporting a trade sign, lantern, or overdoor canopy. The piece is of robust construction, featuring a long horizontal top projection bar supported by a scrolled stay. The bracket incorporates traditional ironwork motifs, including a prominent C-scroll to the upper section and a further scroll at the base of the stay. The mounting section is formed of a rectangular frame with four pre-drilled holes at the corners for wall fixation. The wrought iron shows evidence of hand-forging with tapering at the scroll ends. A white adhesive inventory label is attached to the scroll, reading 118, which appears to be a lot number rather than a maker's mark. There are no other legible maker's marks or stamps present on the metalwork. Large-scale architectural item; exact dimensions are not provided.
