A Late Victorian 18 Carat Gold Open Faced Pocket Watch - An 18 carat gold open faced pocket watch from the late Victorian period. The timepiece features a gold-toned dial with a decorative engine-turned floral and foliate centre, set within a brushed chapter ring with black Roman numeral hour markers and a minute track of small dots. The dial is fitted with two darkened steel hands, the hour hand featuring a spade tip. The case is extensively decorated with a foliate and scroll engraved band to the edge and is fitted with a circular suspension bow. A hinged cuvette protects a manual wind movement with a cylinder escapement. The pendant is struck with a relief mark reading 18K, and the suspension bow bears small rectangular punch marks which are not legible. The interior of the case back is struck with an oval mark containing the characters E.B.C. or similar, partially obscured by surface glare. Case Diameter: 38.36 mm Total Gross Weight: 37.20 g.
