A Sterling Silver Rope Chain and Abalone Shell Pendant - A sterling silver rope chain necklace featuring a circular abalone shell pendant. The chain is constructed with interlocking silver-toned links in a classic twisted rope style and is secured with a lobster claw clasp. A hallmark is present on the flat end of the clasp assembly, consisting of the numerical characters 925 inside an oval cartouche, indicating sterling silver content. The pendant consists of a circular iridescent abalone shell inlay, also known as paua shell, set within a plain metal bezel. The shell displays a natural pattern with shades of green, blue, pink, and purple. The pendant is suspended by a tapered bail which bears an impressed mark. The characters read literally as 9KT followed by several illegible characters which appear to be GP or GF, suggesting the mounting may be 9 carat gold plated or gold filled over a base metal.
