A Late Victorian Silver Plated Floral Repousse Vesta Case - A silver plated vesta case from the Late Victorian period, featuring a rectangular form with rounded edges and gadrooned borders to the top and base. The body is decorated with intricate repousse floral scrollwork surrounding a central diagonal vacant cartouche. The side of the case bears an impressed registration mark which reads Re 168520. This British registered design number corresponds to the year 1891. The interior is finished with a dark coating, and a textured striker plate is integrated into the bottom edge for igniting friction matches. The hinged flip-top lid is secured by a spring mechanism.
