A Late Victorian Yellow Gold Novelty Carriage Lantern Brooch - An antique novelty brooch from the late Victorian period, designed in the form of a miniature carriage lamp or lantern. The piece is constructed from yellow gold, with testing across multiple points indicating a fineness between 10ct and 14ct. The lantern body features a central circular frame with a flared top and bottom, suspended within a wire handle structure. The central lens is set with a circular-cut vibrant green gemstone, secured in a bezel setting. The reverse of the brooch is fitted with an original hinged pin and a simple C-clasp mechanism.
