A Collection of Qing Dynasty Copper Alloy Cash Coins - A collection of Chinese cash-style coins cast in copper alloy, primarily dating from the Qing Dynasty. The group includes various reign periods identified by the four-character obverse inscriptions, read top-to-bottom and right-to-left. Notable examples include several ”Qianlong Tong Bao” coins, featuring the characters 乾 (Qian) at the top, 隆 (Long) at the bottom, 通 (Tong) at the right, and 寶 (Bao) at the left, corresponding to the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1735–1796). Other visible reign titles include Jiaqing (1796–1820) and Daoguang (1820–1850). The reverses typically feature two Manchu script characters flanking the central square hole, such as those identifying the Board of Revenue mint in Beijing (”Boo-chiowan”). The coins exhibit a range of natural patinas from light brass tones to dark, oxidised brown surfaces. The manufacturing technique is traditional sand-casting, resulting in characteristic granular textures and raised rims.
