A RUSSIAN PORCELAIN WATER JUG BY POPOV 19TH C.

Rare porcelain pitcher by Popov, Russia, 19th century. An elongated pitcher painted with flowers, at the bottom modeled as a sea scallop shell. The handle is modeled as a curved twig of a coral. Marked by the manufacturer in blue ink on the base underglaze. Literature reference: 1. Private Porcelain Factories of Imperial Russia, St. Petersburg, p.164; 2. Imperial Porcelain Factory, p. 429.

Condition: No chips or cracks, gilding is partially lost
