A LAZAR KRESTIN FEMALE PORTRAIT OIL PAINTING, 1896
Oil on canvas painting of a lady in a dark blue dress with white frills by Lazar Krestin. Signed in the Cyrillic and dated lower right and inscribed in Russian: "Adelia Georgievna Wulf, nee Vybovskaya, June 17, 1866." Housed in an ornate gilt wooden frame. Lazar Krestin (1868, Kaunas, Russian Empire - 1938, Vienna, Austria) was an Austrian artist and Zionist figure of Jewish origin. As a representative of genre painting, in his paintings, like his teacher Isidor Kaufman, he depicted the life of Eastern European Jews.
Dimensions: 32 11/16 x 24 7/16 in., (83 x 62 cm.)
Condition: Good with some restoration.
