A ROMAN MARBLE HEAD WITH AN ATHLETE'S DIADEM, CA. 1ST CENTURY AD

This marble head of possible Roman design depicts the image of a youthful man wearing an athlete's diadem. The smooth features of the face indicate the youthfulness of the figure, as was common when depicting athletes in Ancient Rome. The facial expression is one of intensity and focus, accentuated by the narrow eyes and closed mouth. His hair is characterized as curly and well-kempt. The piece has maintained most of its structure and detail.

Ancient Rome - CA. 1st Century AD
