A Tibetan mechag flint pouch decorated with finely worked repousse silver and brass foliate panels as well as roughhewn turquoise and rounded coral cabochons. The piece is hung from a red-stitched leather strap set with rounded metal studs. Mechag pouches were designed to carry fragments of flint and some flammable material so that one could easily light fires wherever they traveled.
