A GEORGES OMERTH BRONZE AND MARBLE FEMALE FARMER, 19TH C.
Georges Omerth (1895-1925) sculpture of a female farmer with a rake. The sculpture is made of white biscuit porcelain and gilded bronze, depicting the farmer in a resting pose; one hand on her hip while the other drapes over the rake. The entire piece is presented upon a circular red marble base. The artist's signature is on the bottom of the bronze.
Georges Omerth (1895-1925) is known for Art Nouveau and Art Deco figure, animalier, and statuette sculpture. Practically nothing is known of this talented sculptor, not even his nationality; although, he is believed to be of French or possibly Belgian origin.
