A LATE 16TH CEN. TUSCANY, ITALIAN RENAISSANCE CASKET BOX WITH LION FEET
A Late 16th-century or very early 17th-century footed casket from Tuscany, crafted in a late Italian Renaissance style. The wooden body is covered with embossed leather. The box has two body compartments, the main and the upper ones. The feet are in lion shape, small and well proportionated with respect to the overall object scale. The surface is ornate with geometric rhombus motifs as well as floral accents arranged through oval cartouches, all around. The interior surface is lined with a rich emerald-green velvet fabric also embossed. The upper compartment has a sliding opening lid, smooth and functional. Undoubtedly a very nice if not an exquisite piece for collectors.

Condition: Very good. Item has the original velvet interior. Normal and expected surface wear and aging specially at edges and corners. Lock not working, some slight disadjustment between lid and body.
