[ROMANIA] MAURICE PERNOT (1875-1948), AUTOGRAPH "In Romania: dynasty and government" ["En Roumanie : dynastie et gouvernement"] Autograph manuscript signed, undated [June 1930].
7 pages in4. In French.
26,7 x 21 cm
Very good condition.
Very long and interesting article on Carol II's accession to the Romanian throne.
The article follows 6 June 1930, when Carol obtained from the ruling party the repeal of the abdication imposed by her father, Ferdinand I, in favour of her grandson Michel. Maurice Pernot's analysis of Romania's domestic political situation (conflict between the "reigning dynasty" and the "ruling dynasty": the Bratianos) and economic situation (excesses of liberal policies; "to favour two million city dwellers, thirteen million peasants were reduced to poverty") is extremely astute.
Maurice Pernot
French journalist and man of letters.
